Requirements for Construction Wireman (CWP) Program:
1- Resident within the Richmond region,
2- Social Security Card or Birth Certificate,
3- 17 years of age or older
The Construction Wireman Program is currently an On-The-Job program. No classroom time is needed. The RJATC does offer CWP classes periodically throughout the year but are not required. The Construction Wireman Program (CWP) gives you the opportunity to work with the same electrical contractors that the Inside Wireman Apprentices are working with. Monthly work reports and work evaluation reports are required to keep track of your work hours and to evaluate your job performances. Construction Wireman (CW) pay rates are dependent upon the applicants documented electrical construction work experience and the type of job the CW is working on. Construction Wireman can apply for the Inside Wireman Apprenticeship at anytime.
If a CW is interested in becoming an Inside Wireman Apprentice, the CW can enter the program by:
1. Submitting the required information (school transcripts, etc), receiving a qualifying aptitude test score and interviewing with the Committee. OR
2. Working 4,000 documented electrical construction experience hours and interviewing with the Committee.
The Committee makes the final decision of acceptance into the Inside Wireman Apprenticeship Program. Prior to job placement, you are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
